Bioconvertin
The demographic explosion and consumption patterns have led to an exponential growth of non-recycled organic waste. The decomposition of waste produces greenhouse gases and toxic waste that pollutes the environment.
In 2015, the members of Bioconvertin in partnership with the laboratories of the Peruvian University Cayetano Heredia and the French Institute of Research for Development (IRD) of France had the project to convert and implement laboratory research into a company which improves quality of life, generates work and is useful to society.
The main objective is to produce a food based on insect larvae from a biotechnological process. This process involves the transformation of organic waste into a valuable product that replaces the protein and lipid intake of soybean and fishmeal used in the current feeding of farm animals.
